Ballon d'Or 2026: 'Statistically he should win it' – Martin Keown names award winner
Former Arsenal defender, Martin Keown, has insisted that Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane should win the 2026 Ballon d'Or based on statistics.
Kane is among the top contenders for this year's Ballon d'Or, the winner of which will be announced on Monday in London.
The 33-year-old will face stiff competition from Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé for the Ballon d'Or.
However, Keown wants Kane to win the Ballon d'Or ahead of Yamal and Mbappé, insisting that it would be remarkable if he claims the award.
"If Harry Kane is able to get the Ballon d'Or it would be remarkable. Kevin Keegan [former England forward] who went to Hamburg and won the Ballon d'Or twice," Keown said as quoted by TNT Sports.
"So we wish him well to do it. So statistically he should probably win it."
