2027: Tinubu’s Campaign Council Self-Serving – GMN
A group which calls itself Grassroots Mobilisation Network (GMN) has said Nigerians should reject President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, describing the recently constituted campaign council as self-serving.
The group, in a statement by its National Secretary, Peter Okoye, said no meaningful change would come from an assemblage of individuals who, it stated, had failed to provide solutions to the country’s worsening economic and security challenges.
According to the GMN, “a presidency genuinely concerned about the plight of Nigerians would have assembled a more progressive and forward-looking team capable of addressing the deteriorating socio-economic conditions in the country.”
It noted that the same group of people who have failed to make a meaningful impact in almost four years of the tenure of the APC cannot fashion a fresh agenda capable of taking the nation out of its current anguish.
The group also questioned the credentials and records of some members of the campaign council, alleging that they are individuals who had previously served in public office but failed to demonstrate sufficient commitment to the common good.
It urged Nigerians to scrutinise the composition of the council and reject what it described as an attempt to deploy political machinery to perpetuate policies that had deepened hardship, hunger and insecurity.
“It is a self-serving group that has been brought together to serve personal interests,” GMN said.
The organisation further urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, demand accountability and carefully assess the records of politicians seeking their support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
